Are You Able To Get Visitation Rights for Stepchildren?

Hey folks, Mark Scroggins with Scroggins Law Group and before we get into these Q and A’s want to remind everybody that this is just providing a general answer to questions that are posed by our listenership and viewership out there. So at no time does that create an attorney client relationship between you and me, or between you and any member of Scroggins Law Group. So I hope these questions are good for you and answer some of the questions that you got. Alright, folks, the next question we get is, are you able to get visitation rights for stepchildren? The answer is no, you are not. The only way that you would be able to get visitation rights is if you are actually asking to be named sole managing conservator of the kids because your spouse or soon to be former spouse, let’s say had a horrible drug addiction or let’s say they had been convicted of a crime and were being put in prison but it is still unlikely that you would get those rights over the other parent. So the general answer to that is going to be no.
