The answers to the questions that are posed by our fans are my personal opinions on things. They do not create a relationship between you and me individually, nor do they create a relationship with Scroggins Law Group. So the first question we get is what is a social study in child custody cases in Texas? Well, a social study is a term that was used for what are now known as child custody evaluations. And that’s a scenario where a licensed professional counselor, someone who’s got their master’s in social work, or a psychologist is going to interview you is going to interview the other parent is going to want to come out and observe you and the children together is going to do that with the other party is going to take a look at collateral witnesses that are going to be provided by you and your attorney. And it’s going to interview all of them and then they’re going to come back and they’re going to make recommendations for things about conservatorship, possession and access, and it can be some additional issues as well. So that’s something that is going to be used in the vast majority of child custody cases where there is some sort of contest as to who the children would be better off being with.
