Hey folks, Mark Scroggins with Scroggins Law Group back to answer some more of your frequently asked questions between the reclamation transformation podcast. One of the things, though, that is really important to remember is that the answers to these questions Do not create an attorney-client relationship between you and me, or you and my law firm. So if you have questions that you want to follow up on, and you’re actually seeking representation, reach out to Scroggins Law Group or reach out to another law firm, and they can walk you through the process. Why is it important to hire a board certified family lawyer, or at least go to a firm that is led by board certified family lawyers, simply because we are the only folks that can refer to ourselves as family law specialists, or divorce specialists or child custody specialists because we have a heightened level of knowledge in this particular field. So Texas has a number of different areas in which people can get board certified. Of all of the attorneys in Texas, less than 1% are board certified in family law, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. So if you’re a property owner, if you’re a business owner, if you have any kind of complex assets, you want to make sure that you have someone that has this heightened level of experience, because it’s not like you can just decide I’m going to get board certified and sit for the exam, you have to have all of this litany of experience to be able to qualify to sit for the exam. So first, you have to have a shit ton of experience to be able to sit and then you got to pass the pass the test, which is more difficult than the bar exam. So it’s really, you know, takes a lot to be able to do that. And, you know, it’s just like, if you had a personal injury case, I would recommend to you that you go see somebody that’s board certified in personal injury law, okay. It’s the same thing when you have family law, so don’t sell yourself short. Go out there and get the best people that you can.
