ABOUT WHITNEY
Whitney M. Scroggins is a compassionate, creative, and determined attorney, with a deep understanding of family law. As a child of two family law attorneys, Whitney’s immersion into the world of law began early. From a young age, Whitney developed a passion for helping others, especially through their lowest moments.
As a double alumna of The University of Texas at Austin, Whitney completed her B.A. in Psychology in just three years, graduating summa cum laude and with the highest honors from the Liberal Arts Honors Program. Her stellar academic performance also warranted an induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Throughout college, Whitney spent her spare time mentoring younger psychology students and enjoying the vibrant food scene in Austin with her friends.
Continuing on to the University of Texas School of Law, Whitney focused on developing key skills required of family law attorneys and deepening her knowledge of family law in Texas. During her time in law school, Whitney co-founded the Texas Family Law Society, the school’s first student-run association focusing on the intricacies of family matters in the Texas legal system. Whitney also participated in multiple courses geared toward the instillment of strong negotiation skills, both in and out of the courtroom. Whitney was an active member in the Women’s Law Caucus, Texas Law Art Association, and the American Constitutional Society.
While Whitney is prepared to represent her clients in any capacity, she has a strong preference for Collaborative Law, which focuses on fostering peaceful, interest-based solutions tailored to the unique needs of each family undergoing the process of divorce, a child custody dispute, or modification. Whitney is an active member of Collaborative Divorce Texas and a proponent of the benefits the process offers to her clients. Her background in psychology allows her to develop a full understanding of her clients’ wants and needs, which in turn promotes fierce advocacy in any legal scenario. Whitney is resilient, loyal, and approachable. Her goal is to put her clients first and always make sure they feel heard. She exemplifies the professional experience of a tenured attorney, but as a product of a newer generation.
Whitney is an active member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Collaborative Law, Family Law, and Women and the Law sections of the State Bar of Texas. Whitney also participates in the Collin County Women Lawyers association and is active in the Collin County, Denton County, and Dallas County Bar Associations. In her free time, Whitney volunteers for the Operation Kindness animal shelter in North Texas. She also loves to explore new places and try new restaurants with her travel buddy and husband, Vince.
